2015 Commonwealth Supported Places

The ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science expect to offer a number of Commonwealth supported places for domestic students commencing one of its masters by coursework degrees in Semester 2, 2015.

What is a Commonwealth Supported Place?

A Commonwealth-Supported Place (CSP) can save more than 50 per cent on the cost of full-fee graduate study. With a Commonwealth Supported Place, you will pay the equivalent of undergraduate fees for your master’s degree.

Commonwealth Supported Places are limited in number and selection is highly competitive. Not all applicants will be successful.

What degrees are offered?

Commonwealth Supported Places are available to students in the following graduate coursework degrees from the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Eligibility for CSP

  • Students who are classified as a domestic student i.e. Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or Australian Permanent Resident holders
  • Students must be a commencing or a current ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science graduate coursework student
    • For current students: please note that historically, students with a sustained average of HD in their previous semesters have been awarded a CSP.
    • For commencing students: new students who have applied to commence study in 2015 in one of the graduate coursework degrees offered by the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science. Applicants with conditional offers may apply for a CSP but they are required to meet any outstanding conditions by the end of June for Semester 2 intake.
  • Research based programs including the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) are not eligible.
  • Non award study is not eligible.

The selection of students for Commonwealth supported places will be based purely on academic merit (e.g. past academic performance, level of qualifications: PhD, H1, and Masters).

Successful students are expected to take up their Commonwealth Supported Place in the semester for which it was offered. Applications to defer the Commonwealth Supported Place will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and should be made in writing to the Dean of the College. Please note that work commitments will not be considered sufficient grounds for deferral of a Commonwealth Supported Place.

The Commonwealth Supported Place is available for the prescribed duration of the program in which the student initially enrols. Should the student seek to change program, the continued availability of a Commonwealth supported place is not guaranteed.

If the student withdraws from their degree program the Commonwealth Supported Place is forfeited.

The student is subject to the usual rules of the degree program for which they are enrolled.

Student contribution amounts for new and continuing students by ANU are assessed in accordance with the amount stipulated by the Government for Commonwealth supported students. More information can be found on ANU Commonwealth supported students website.
